April Member of the Month: Chris Spresney

Since joining earlier this year, Chris Spresney has quickly become an enthusiastic and engaged member of AMA. His journey began when two board members from AMA visited and introduced the organization. From that moment, Chris knew it was the perfect opportunity for him to get involved, grow professionally, and meet new people.

What inspired Chris most to join was not only the presentation itself but also the welcoming and friendly atmosphere of the AMA. That sense of community made it easy for him to jump in, get involved, and start building connections across campus.

Chris has already made some great memories during his time in AMA. One standout moment is attending the Business and Basketball event followed by a Pistons game. This experience gave him the chance to collaborate with others, learn new skills, and have fun along the way.

Being part of AMA has had a meaningful impact on Chris. He shares that it has helped him become more involved on campus while also introducing him to many new people. The experience has made his freshman year more engaging and helped him gain clarity about his academic and career path.

One of Chris’s proudest accomplishments so far has been participating in the MLB case study competition alongside Emily, Jillian, and Carly. The competition allowed Chris and the team to present their work at the 2026 AMA International Collegiate Conference in Chicago; where they placed Third overall. He describes the experience as both fun and rewarding and encourages other members to try it out at least once. Through this project, Chris strengthened his teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Since joining, Chris has also developed valuable professional skills such as public speaking, resume writing, and cover letter development. These experiences have helped him grow more confident in his abilities and better prepare for future opportunities.

When Chris first started his college career, he was deciding between majoring in marketing or psychology. Through his involvement in AMA, he has gained a clearer understanding of his interests and career goals, helping him feel more confident and prepared in his direction.

When asked Chris described AMA in three words, "Fun, Helpful, and Intuitive." He also mentioned that one of his favorite traditions is enjoying donuts at meetings, a simple but enjoyable part of AMA culture.

The song that reminds Chris of the club is "High Hopes" by Panic! At The Disco. For him, the song represents believing in yourself, staying motivated, and always striving for success, values he feels the club encourages in its members.

Looking ahead, Chris hopes to continue growing both personally and professionally. He wants to develop his marketing skills and knowledge, strengthen his people skills, and participate in more competitions. His goal is to keep pushing himself to become the best version of himself while learning alongside fellow members.

Chris’s advice for new or prospective members is simple, "Always show up." He describes the club as a family that supports one another and helps members grow. For Chris, joining the club during his freshman year has helped him discover what he wants to pursue and given him a strong foundation for the future.

With his positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excitement for growth, Chris is already making a lasting impact, and this is just the beginning.
