Building Connections: Meet Lexi Buntley, VP of Membership

AMA Ferris

Updated: 6 days ago

Stepping into Leadership

Becoming VP of Membership at AMA meant more to Lexi Buntley than just a title. It was about becoming active, developing relationships, and obtaining leadership experience."I like presentations and having fun with people, so I thought Membership would be the perfect role for me!" she says. As part of her position, she interacts with students during class presentations and events like Bulldog Bonanza to boost their excitement for AMA.

Creating a Welcoming Community

Lexi uses a simple yet effective strategy to make AMA feel like home, A sincere connection. "I always make sure to smile and wave when I see members in the hallways or class," she says. She creates a welcoming atmosphere both within and outside of AMA events by trying to speak with various individuals.

The Most Rewarding Part

Seeing friendships develop within the organization is the highlight of Lexi's position. "It’s really rewarding to see members connecting. I love running into AMA members outside of meetings and catching up. It makes the organization feel like a true community."

Growing AMA’s Membership

Expanding AMA’s reach takes planning, and Lexi has been devoted to making it happen. "I scheduled 35 class visits in the fall and 13 in the spring, making sure to reach as many freshmen as possible," she explains. She has introduced new students to everything that AMA offers by focusing on marketing and business core programs.

Advice for New Members

Lexi encourages new members to step outside their comfort zones. "Don't hesitate to participate! Go to events, attend socials, and get to know the people around you. Building a community and making connections is what AMA is all about."

What Sets AMA Apart

What separates AMA from the several other student organizations on campus? It's the opportunities, Lexi says. "We go to events like Business and Basketball with The Detroit Pistons, attend conferences, and create workshops that help students build real-world skills on LinkedIn, resumes, Excel, networking, and more." Lexi's efforts to engage members and grow AMA reflect her enthusiasm for the organization. Thanks to leaders like her, AMA remains a place where students may form connections, gain professional skills, and discover their place on campus.
