There are many motivated and enthusiastic students in Ferris AMA, and this month, we're showcasing a person who epitomizes what it means to be an active member. Emily has gotten the most out of her AMA experience by taking risks and seizing every opportunity.

Finding a Home in AMA

There were many unknowns when she changed her major to marketing at the end of her first year, but joining AMA was significant. "I knew hardly anything about marketing initially, but I wanted to get more involved and learn. I knew AMA was a great RSO with tons of opportunities," Emily shared.

Going to the West Michigan AMA event in Grand Rapids has been her favorite experience. "Networking for two hours sounded intimidating, but the time flew by, and by the end, I didn't want to stop talking to people. AMA has provided me with so many great opportunities, and I'm so grateful I joined."

Balancing It All

Being organized is essential for meetings, activities, and schoolwork. "I put all my events in my phone calendar and on the calendar in my room. Every morning, I plan my day so I know what needs to be done." This approach allows her to maximize her time and stay on course.

The Future of Marketing: AI's Impact

The increasing use of AI in marketing is one topic that Emily is enthusiastic about. "It's already being used for content creation, predictive analytics, and programmatic advertising, but I'm curious to see how much it will evolve. Let's just hope it doesn't take all our jobs," she joked.

Dream AMA Event: A Networking Opportunity with Bissell

Emily, who is passionate about animals and marketing, would love to network with Bissell. “Bissell has dedicated a large part of their company to saving animal lives, and I’ve wanted to work for them for a while. Making connections there would be a dream come true.”

Advice for New AMA Members

"Get involved as much as you can. You get out of AMA what you put into it. Go to meetings, attend events, and take advantage of networking opportunities. And at networking events, don't be afraid to start conversations. Everyone is there for the same reason. Stepping outside your comfort zone is where you'll grow the most."

A Marketing Slogan to Live By

Emily adopts Nike's motto, "Just do it. " She says, "I try not to let fear rule my life. I attend the event, strike up a conversation, and participate. This kind of thinking has led to amazing experiences, like AMA, that I can't picture my life without."

Reflections on the AMA Experience

In hindsight, joining AMA was a risk that paid off. "At first, I was hesitant. I didn't know much about it, and I didn't know anyone. I'm a quiet person, so walking into a room full of strangers was intimidating. But AMA helped me gain confidence, become a better leader, and form amazing friendships. I can't wait to see what else this journey has in store."

👏Congrats to our February Member of the Month, Emily Rogalske! Continue to take advantage of all that AMA has to offer!
