What brought you to AMA?
I came to AMA looking for an organization that focused more on the professional development aspect than the social aspect. Most organizations I had been apart of throughout my time at Ferris were more social and things weren’t taken as serious as I would have liked. When I walked in to my first meeting, I knew that the organization was about getting things done and getting them done correctly. I knew it was a place that would develop my professional skills and prepare me for graduation.
How has AMA helped you professionally?
AMA has helped me professionally in many ways. The first thing it helped me with right away was my resume and LinkedIn account. Both of these were absolute disasters before joining AMA. Now I am confident when employers search my name and view my profile because I know it is set up in an appealing, professional way. Also, AMA helped me land my internship in the Summer of 2015 at Northwestern Mutual, where I learned more in those three months than I had through my entire time in school. Lastly AMA has truly helped me start getting looked at for full-time positions as I graduate, which is huge because I really want that security of knowing where I will end up upon graduation.
What are you looking forward to this year?
The biggest thing I am looking forward to this year is continuing the tradition of being one of the top ten chapters in the entire nation for AMA. At our collegiate conference last year, I got to truly see the greatness of our chapter, and the legacy that has been left behind. When we go to our conference, people know who Ferris State University AMA is because of how great our chapter is. I look forward to upholding this throughout my time here.
Plans for the future:
In the next months, I will be looking for full-time positions in sales/advertising area throughout the state of Michigan and the city of Chicago. I plan to be beginning my long, exciting career into the world of marketing. I will be coming back to Ferris State University to teach future students what it takes to be in the professional world.
